An item page

What every item page shows

Each page has the item’s picture, a one-line description, a stats table, where it spawns, what it repairs with, what it fits or feeds, and links to the guides that mention it. The stats table is the part people ask about, so here is what the common rows mean.

RowMeaning
FoundThe loot groups the item spawns in: Military, Hunting, Civilian, Industrial, Medical, Farm, Police, Firefighter, Crafted, and so on. Where those groups are on each map is on best loot by map.
RarityHow often it spawns, from Common to Extremely Rare. See below.
SizeInventory footprint in slots, width by height.
WeightIn grams or kilograms. Everything you carry costs stamina; the weight planner adds it up.
Class nameThe internal name used in server files and types.xml. Useful for server owners; see server hosting.
Added inThe update that introduced the item, where we know it.

Rarity

Common to Extremely Rare

Rarity is our reading of how many of an item the central loot economy keeps on an official server and how quickly it comes back. It is a guide, not a promise: a community server with edited loot files can make anything common.

Common

In most towns, most of the time. Kitchen knives, cans, basic clothing.

Uncommon

Found on a normal loot run, but not every time. Most civilian guns and tools.

Rare

Military or specialist spawns only. Expect to search.

Very Rare

Top-tier military sites, bunkers, gas zones. A few per server.

Extremely Rare

Helicopter crashes and the best events. The M4-A1, SVAL, VSD, LAR and DMR live here.

Crafted / N/A

Made by hand, or not part of the loot economy at all. See crafting.

Every item in each tier is listed on the rarity pages.

The stats

Damage and protection

  • Damage (health / blood / shock) on ammunition and melee pages: what one hit takes from each of the three bars. Shock is what knocks you out. The combat guide explains all three.
  • Bullets / Melee / Infected head and body on clothing: how much of each kind of damage the item absorbs on the head or body slot. Higher is better. The armour tier list ranks them.
  • Insulation on clothing: how well it keeps heat in. It matters on Sakhal more than anywhere.
  • Energy / Water / Stomach on food: what eating it gives you and how much stomach space it takes.
  • Capacity on bags, vests and jackets: inventory slots inside the item.
  • Durability and Repair kit type: how long it lasts and what fixes it.

Tables and tools

Built from the same data

The sortable tables, loot by place, rarity lists, A to Z, quick answers and compare pages are generated from the item stats, so they change when an item page changes. The tier lists and tools on guides & tools read the same numbers; where a tier list ranks things, that ranking is our opinion and it says so on the page.

Sources and updates

Where the numbers come from

Bohemia Interactive’s official changelogs and announcements, the game itself, and the public server files that define loot. When a figure comes from a community source rather than Bohemia, the page says so, and place names we have not verified in game are marked unverified. Every page carries a “checked” line with the date and the game version it was checked against. We update after each DayZ patch; the updates page tracks what changed.

DayZ2.net is an independent fansite. It is not affiliated with Bohemia Interactive, it runs no advertising, and nothing here is paid placement.

Corrections

When something is wrong

Send the page and what it should say, with a source if you have one, to the address on the contact page. Corrections with a changelog link or a screenshot go to the top of the pile. We would rather be told than be wrong.
