Why a DayZ 2 site runs a full DayZ wiki, and everything we actually know about the sequel

DayZ2.net is built for DayZ 2, but the sequel hasn’t been announced yet. Here’s the whole story so far, from the 2023 court papers to the “2” at DayZ Unite, and why we built a 944-item DayZ wiki while we wait.

By DayZ2.net · 20 October 2026

Let’s get the obvious question out of the way. This site is called DayZ2.net. DayZ 2 hasn’t been announced. So why is the biggest thing on here a wiki for the DayZ you can play right now?

Because we love this game, and because the honest answer to “what’s in DayZ 2?” is “nobody outside Bohemia knows yet.” We could have filled the place with fake trailers and guesswork dressed up as news. Plenty of sites do. We’d rather be the place you come back to when the real thing drops, and be useful every single day until then.

Why the wiki came first

DayZ doesn’t explain itself. So we did.

If you’ve played DayZ for more than an hour, you know the feeling. You spawn on the coast with a flare and a bad attitude, you find a can of beans and no opener, and twenty minutes later you’re dying of something you didn’t know existed. DayZ doesn’t explain itself. That’s the whole point, and it’s also why so many people bounce off it.

So we built the thing we wished we’d had: a DayZ wiki with all 944 items, with pictures and stats, every crafting recipe, how to start a fire in the rain, every disease and how to cure it, every weapon and what it eats, vehicles, base building, wildlife and all four maps. It’s the game you can play tonight, and it’s the best prep there is for whatever comes next. Whatever DayZ 2 turns out to be, it’s going to be built on the same loop: find food, find water, find ammo, don’t trust the guy saying “friendly” on the hill.

Everything we know about DayZ 2

All of it, labelled by how solid it is

Confirmedmeans Bohemia said it publicly. Reportedmeans a news outlet, court document or filing says it, but Bohemia hasn’t said it out loud. Unknownmeans nobody outside Bohemia knows yet.

ReportedJune 2023: it was on the list. During the FTC v. Microsoft court case, documents were published listing the projects Bohemia Interactive was working on: Arma Reforger, Arma 4 and DayZ 2. That’s the first time the name showed up anywhere official-looking. It tells us a sequel was planned three years ago. It doesn’t tell us anything about what it is or when.

Reported1 April 2026: the name got protected. German site PlayFront reported a “DayZ 2” trademark entry by Bohemia at the EU Intellectual Property Office. Yes, the date made everyone suspicious. No, it doesn’t seem to have been a joke. Companies file trademarks years ahead, though, so on its own this proves Bohemia wants the name, not that a game is close.

Reported24 June 2026: the “2”. This is the big one. At DayZ Unite, Bohemia’s yearly event for creators, six of them (TheRunningManZ, Fresh Spawns, HollyRex, SourSweet, Lex and HappyBombs) all posted the same image: a big DayZ-style “2” on a dark banner. Russian site 3DNews reported that attendees were told a sequel is in development. Bohemia declined to comment publicly. Several creators posting the same image from Bohemia’s own event doesn’t look like a prank. It looks like a tease. HollyRex said on stream it was “pretty emotional” because “we were not expecting it at all.” Honestly, same.

UnknownBasically everything else. No release date or window. No platforms. No price. No map, setting or story. No word on whether anything you own in DayZ carries over. The engine isn’t confirmed either, though most people expect Enfusion, the engine behind Arma Reforger and Arma 4. That’s a reasonable guess, not a fact.

So the short version: DayZ 2 is very probably being made, and Bohemia hasn’t said a word about it in public. Anyone telling you a release date right now is making it up. The full evidence board, with every source, is on our What we know page, and we update it the moment anything changes.

Meanwhile

DayZ is far from dead

This is the part that gets lost in all the sequel talk. Bohemia is still pouring work into the game we’ve got.

Confirmed15 October 2026: Badlands and Update 1.30. The new expansion added Nasdara, a 267 km² desert map, plus mopeds, enduro bikes and an official code lock on every map. A desert. In DayZ. Where water was already the thing that killed you. It’s brutal in the best way. Everything new is on the updates page and in the maps comparison.

Confirmed20 August 2026: DayZ on Switch 2. It landed as the Cool Edition bundle, with the base game and the Frostline expansion together.

Confirmed8 April 2026: native Xbox Series X|S. A proper current-gen version on Xbox, finally.

A studio that’s shipping a whole new map in October isn’t a studio that’s given up on DayZ. Whatever happens with the sequel, the current game has a long life ahead of it.

Opinion

What we want from DayZ 2

This bit is pure opinion, and we’ve been sitting on it for years.

Keep it cruel. The magic of DayZ is that a ten-hour life can end because you got greedy at a police station. Don’t sand that down for a wider audience. The people who love this game love it because it doesn’t care about you.

Fix the infected. They should be scary, not glitchy. Give us a horde that actually makes you think twice about the airfield.

Better bodies. If it’s Enfusion, we want the animations, the weight and the gun handling Reforger has. Climbing, vaulting and melee that feel deliberate instead of janky.

Bases that matter. Raiding and building need to work without server hopping and wall glitches deciding who wins.

Mods on day one. The mod scene is half the reason DayZ is still here fourteen years after the original mod. Don’t make it wait.

Let us talk to strangers. Proximity voice is the best storytelling tool in survival games. “Friendly?” is still the most dangerous word in gaming.

What happens next

When it’s announced, you’ll hear it here

Nothing gets torn down. The DayZ wiki stays, because the current game isn’t going anywhere. The moment Bohemia announces DayZ 2 for real (a post on dayz.com or the official DayZ account, a store page, a trailer, or a showcase reveal), this News section fills up: the trailer broken down frame by frame, the map, the platforms, the date, everything, labelled the same way we always do.

Leaks, “insider” posts and fan-made trailers don’t count. When it’s real, you’ll hear it here.

Until then: eat your beans, boil your water, and don’t trust anyone on the coast. See you out there.
