The short version

Probably in development, not announced

DayZ 2 looks to be in development at Bohemia Interactive, the studio behind DayZ. It hasn’t been publicly announced. There’s no release date, platform list, price, engine or map, and no trailer or gameplay. Everything we know comes from three things: court documents from 2023, a reported trademark filing in April 2026, and a teaser shown to content creators in June 2026.

Confirmedmeans Bohemia said it publicly. Reportedmeans a news outlet, court document or filing says it, but Bohemia hasn’t said it publicly. Unknownmeans nobody outside Bohemia knows yet.

Court documents list DayZ 2

What happened
Documents published during the FTC v. Microsoft court case listed the games Bohemia Interactive was working on: Arma Reforger, Arma 4 and DayZ 2.
What it tells us
A sequel was planned at Bohemia by mid-2023 at the latest.
What it doesn’t
Anything about timing, content or platforms. Plans listed in 2023 can change.

A “DayZ 2” trademark filing

What happened
German site PlayFront reported a “DayZ 2” trademark entry by Bohemia Interactive at the EU Intellectual Property Office, dated 1 April 2026. We haven’t checked the filing ourselves; this is based on that report.
What it tells us
Bohemia is protecting the name.
What it doesn’t
When the game comes out, or that it will. Companies often file trademarks years ahead, and some names are never used.

The DayZ Unite teaser

What happened
At DayZ Unite, Bohemia’s yearly DayZ event, six creators (TheRunningManZ, Fresh Spawns, HollyRex, SourSweet, Lex and HappyBombs) posted the same image: a large “2” on a dark banner. Russian site 3DNews reported that Bohemia told attendees at the closed event that a sequel is in development. Bohemia declined to comment publicly.
What it tells us
This is the strongest sign so far. Several creators posting the same image from Bohemia’s own event suggests it was planned rather than a joke.
What it doesn’t
A name, date, platform or anything about the game. Creators said they were given nothing beyond the image.

Badlands launches, no DayZ 2 news

What happened
Bohemia released the Badlands expansion, with the desert map Nasdara, and Update 1.30 for the current DayZ on PC, Xbox and PlayStation.
What it tells us
Bohemia is still investing heavily in the current game.
What it doesn’t
Anything about DayZ 2. The release didn’t mention it.

What to watch

What would count as an announcement

We’ll call DayZ 2 announced when Bohemia says so publicly, in one of these ways:

  • A post on dayz.com or @DayZ on X
  • A DayZ 2 store page on Steam, Xbox or PlayStation
  • A trailer on the DayZ or Bohemia Interactive YouTube channels
  • A reveal by Bohemia at a games showcase

Leaks, “insider” posts and fan-made trailers don’t count. When something changes, this page and the DayZ 2 FAQ are updated, along with the “last checked” date.

Meanwhile

DayZ today

  • 15 October 2026: Badlands and Update 1.30 add Nasdara, a 267 km² desert map, plus mopeds, enduro bikes and an official code lock on every map.
  • 9 June 2026: DayZ Cool Edition announced for Nintendo Switch 2, due later in 2026 (Gematsu).
  • 8 April 2026: a native Xbox Series X|S version arrives.
