How weight affects you

Weight lowers your maximum stamina, not your speed or how fast it recovers. Sprinting is disabled below 25 stamina, jumping below 20, holding your breath below 10. A jump costs 20, a heavy melee attack 25.

What makes you heavy
- Plate Carrier: 12 kg alone. The Ballistic Vest is 7 kg.
- Armoured hoods and chainmail: about 5 kg.
- Big guns: the VS-89 is 5.8 kg, the SSG 82 4.5 kg, the M16-A2 and Mosin 4 kg.
- Base materials: logs, sheet metal and planks. Use a car for big builds.
- Water: a full canteen or pot is heavy. Carry one, refill often.

How does weight work in DayZ?
Up to 6 kg costs nothing. Each kilogram above that lowers your maximum stamina by 1.75, down to a floor of 5 at around 60 kg.
How much weight can you carry in DayZ?
There is no hard cap, but by about 49 kg your max stamina drops below 25 and you can no longer sprint.
Does weight slow you down in DayZ?
It does not lower your top speed; it lowers how much stamina you have, so you sprint for less time.
What is the heaviest item in DayZ?
Among wearables, the Plate Carrier at 12 kg.
