DayZ 2: what we actually know

Not publicly. As of 18 October 2026, Bohemia Interactive hasn’t put out a press release, trailer, store page or release date, and dayz.com doesn’t mention it. What exists is a teaser Bohemia showed to content creators at DayZ Unite in June 2026, a reported trademark filing and court documents from 2023. Some sites call that an announcement. We’ll call it one when Bohemia says it publicly.

The signs point that way, but Bohemia hasn’t said so publicly. Three separate things line up: 2023 court documents that list DayZ 2 among Bohemia’s projects, a “DayZ 2” trademark filing reported in April 2026, and the “2” teaser that several creators shared from DayZ Unite in June 2026.

There’s no release date or release window. Anyone quoting a date is guessing. We’ll add one here when Bohemia announces it.

Not announced. The current DayZ is on PC, Xbox and PlayStation, with a Switch 2 version due later in 2026, but that doesn’t tell us where a new game will launch.

Not confirmed. Many people expect Enfusion, the engine Bohemia already uses for DayZ and Arma Reforger, but that’s an assumption, not an announcement.

Unknown. Bohemia hasn’t revealed a map, setting, story or feature list. Fan theories about the teaser art are only theories.

No. Bohemia hasn’t released a trailer, screenshots or gameplay footage. If you see a video called “DayZ 2 trailer”, check who posted it: an official one would come from the DayZ or Bohemia Interactive channels.

If it’s made, Bohemia Interactive, the Czech studio behind DayZ and the Arma series. The 2023 documents and the reported trademark filing both name Bohemia.

There’s no sign of it. Dean Hall created the 2012 DayZ mod and led the standalone game’s early development, then left Bohemia Interactive in November 2014 to found his own studio, RocketWerkz. DayZ has been made by Bohemia’s own team since.

Nobody knows. Bohemia hasn’t said anything about upgrades, discounts, or carrying over DLC, characters or progress. Don’t assume anything carries over until Bohemia says so.

There’s nothing to wait for yet: no date, no platforms, no price. DayZ is the game you can play today, and it’s still getting big updates. Nothing has been said either way about whether purchases will carry over.

For now, yes. Bohemia released Update 1.30 and the Badlands expansion on 15 October 2026, and DayZ Cool Edition, a Nintendo Switch 2 version, is due later in 2026. Bohemia hasn’t announced an end to support.

Badlands is a paid expansion released on 15 October 2026. It adds Nasdara, a desert map of about 267 km², with roughly 5,000 ruins you can rebuild, wells you can repair, sandstorms, and radio signals in Morse code that lead to underground shelters. Update 1.30, released alongside it, brings mopeds, enduro bikes and an official code lock to every map. Badlands costs about $24.99 / €24.99.

PC through Steam, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S (a native Series version arrived on 8 April 2026), and PlayStation 4, which also plays on PS5. DayZ Cool Edition for Nintendo Switch 2 was announced on 9 June 2026 for later this year.

Not between the main platforms. Steam PC, PlayStation and Xbox players can’t join each other’s servers. The one reported exception is the PC version sold through the Microsoft Store and Xbox app, which shares servers with Xbox.

No. DayZ2.net is an independent fan site. It isn’t run, endorsed or checked by Bohemia Interactive. DayZ is a trademark of Bohemia Interactive a.s.
